Wolfgang Werner studied physics in Utrecht (NL) and received his PhD from the TU Vienna (A). His main field of research is electron spectroscopy. He lead the development of the NIST Database for the Simulation of Electron Spectra for Surface Analysis (SESSA) and presently an artificial intelligence (AI) tool for quantitative interpretation of XP-spectra in the framework of the EUSpecLab Marie-Curie ITN project is under implementation. Energy dissipation processes as well as the transport and the emission of low energy electrons (LEEs) near solid surfaces was the focus of the SIMDALEE2 ITN Marie Curie project coordinated by him.
